On Passivity and Power-Balance Inequalities of Nonlinear RLC Circuits

چکیده
Arbitrary interconnections of passive (possibly nonlinear) resistors, inductors, and capacitors define passive systems, with power port variables the external source voltages and currents, and storage function the total stored energy. In this paper, we identify a class of RLC circuits (with convex energy function and weak electromagnetic coupling), for which it is possible to “add a differentiation” to the port terminals preserving passivity—with a new storage function that is directly related to the circuit power. To establish our results, we exploit the geometric property that voltages and currents in RLC circuits live in orthogonal spaces, i.e., Tellegen’s theorem, and heavily rely on the seminal paper of Brayton and Moser published in the early sixties.

Proportional Plus Integral Control for Set-Point Regulation of a Class of Nonlinear RLC Circuits
In this paper we identify graph-theoretic conditions which allow us to write a nonlinear RLC circuit as port-Hamiltonian with constant input matrices. We show that under additional monotonicity conditions on the network’s components, the circuit enjoys the property of relative passivity, an extended notion of classical passivity. The property of relative passivity is then used to build simple, ...

In this paper we prove that for a class of RLC circuits with convex energy function and weak electromagnetic coupling it is possible to “add a differentiation” to the port terminals presening passivity-with a new storage function that is directly related to the circuit power. The result is of interest in circuits theory, but also has applications in control problems as it suggests the paradigm ...

Several synthesis procedures for realizing reduced mathematical models into RLC circuits are presented. The approaches are compared in terms of: quality of approximation , preservation of structure and sparsity and applicability to Multi-Input-Multi-Output systems. 1. Introduction. An emerging problem in simulation of VLSI circuits is that of model reduction for the interconnect. Advanced passi...

The paper further elaborates on a passive output that was constructed in [3] with the purpose of providing an energy-balance (EB) interpretation for basic interconnection and damping assignment (BIDA [6, 7]). Such output has its roots in power shaping [4], an alternative method to stabilize nonlinear RLC circuits subjected to the dissipation obstacle [6]. It has been recently shown in [5] that ...
